My daughter has a 4.3 cubic ft Magic Chef I got her. It was $139 in 2021; $229.00 now = 60% increase – Thanks Trump. Hers is shorter but wider. I preferred a separate freezer door on top so got this one. The bad reviews seem to pertain to shipping damage but the delivered box arrived pristine. Box said from China. Tons of tape over plastic straps. Maybe they read the shipping damage reviews & implemented an improved packaging process. I used a screwdriver to remove the metal staples down one corner then tilted it & cut the tape around the bottom to separate the box walls from the separate box floor to get it out. Wheeled effortlessly to its new place. Pretty light. Fed Ex guy carried up nine front porch steps effortlessly without a hand truck. The little plastic chiller box in the bottom seems chincy & fragile. Thicker plastic would be preferable. Unit is very, very quiet. Would not keep you awake in a bedroom. An older one upstairs is loud. It says in booklet if you want to freeze ice, set it on the highest setting & don’t overfill the freezer. I put a Root Beer can in lower section before going to bed & compared to one in main refrigerator in the morning. Feels just as cold but it is at the highest cold setting. I was relieved that stuff left in upper freeze was still frozen in the morning. Freezer space is small: 5″ high, 13″ wide, @ 11″ deep not including 2″ freeze door storage. It is early yet but so far no complaints other than Trump’s Tariffs. Future reviewers: please note price paid & date.
